The IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025 is a national-level entrance examination conducted for admission to the BS-MS dual degree and B.Tech. programs at IISERs. It is designed to assess a candidate’s proficiency in core science subjects including:

👉 Mode of Exam: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
👉 Duration: 180 minutes (3 hours)
👉 Total Questions: 60 MCQs (15 from each subject – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology)
👉 Maximum Marks: 240
👉 Marking Scheme:
✅ Correct Answer: +4 marks
❌ Incorrect Answer: -1 mark
➖ Unanswered: 0 marks
📌 Note: Merely obtaining a rank in IAT 2025 does not guarantee admission. Final selection will be based on cut-off ranks, which will be announced after the exam.
The application fee for IISER Admission 2025 must be paid online during form submission. The fee is non-refundable and varies by category:
👉 General / EWS / OBC / OBC-NCL: ₹2,000
👉 SC / ST / PwD / Kashmiri Migrants: ₹1,000
👉 Foreign Nationals: ₹12,000
After receiving the offer of admission, candidates must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) to confirm their seat:
👉 General / EWS / OBC / PwD / Kashmiri Migrants: ₹35,000
(₹25,000 seat fee + ₹10,000 administrative fee)
👉 SC / ST Candidates: ₹17,500
(₹12,500 seat fee + ₹5,000 administrative fee)
⚠️ Failure to pay the SAF within the given timeframe will result in cancellation of the admission offer.
To be eligible for admission via IAT 2025, candidates must fulfill the following conditions:
👉 Nationality: Indian citizens, OCI/PIO, and Foreign Nationals
👉 Academic Qualification:
✔️ Must have passed Class XII or equivalent in the Science stream with subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and/or Biology
✔️ Foreign nationals must upload an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
👉 Age Limit:
✔️ Candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000
✔️ SC/ST/PwD candidates are eligible for a 5-year age relaxation
👉 Minimum Marks in Class XII:
✔️ General/OBC/EWS: At least 60%
✔️ SC/ST/PwD: At least 55%
IISERs strictly follow the Government of India’s reservation norms:
👉 Scheduled Caste (SC): 15%
👉 Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5%
👉 OBC-NCL: 27%
👉 PwD (within each category): 5% (horizontal reservation)
👉 EWS (Economically Weaker Section): Up to 10%
👉 Kashmiri Migrants: 3 supernumerary seats per IISER
