NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (NIT)
National Institute of Technology (NIT) is a group of premier engineering and technology institutes in India, recognized as Institutes of National Importance under the Government of India. The NIT system was established to provide high-quality technical education, advanced research, and innovation in engineering and science fields across the country.
The first NITs evolved from Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs), which were upgraded into NITs in 2003. Currently, NITs are among the most prestigious engineering institutes in India after IITs and are known for their excellent academic environment, experienced faculty, research facilities, and strong industry connections.
NITs offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, technology, sciences, management, and interdisciplinary areas. Admissions to B.Tech programs are conducted through JEE Main, while postgraduate admissions are based on GATE, JAM, CAT, and other institute-level criteria.
